Meet Nicky aka Saint Nick, 8 years old Chihuahua, Short Coat
Nick a/k/a Saint Nick is an 8yr old mixture (although he acts much younger!)...his official documents say he is chihuahua mixture but if anything he looks more like a toy-sized German Shepherd or German Shepherd/Dachshund mixture. He is about 14lbs. Nicky was rescued from the streets, near death from starvation and anemia from flea infestation. Half of his lower lip was torn. He spent several months at a veterinarian's office, receiving blood transfusions and plastic surgery, and building back his weight, strength and digestive tract. He has a very mild heart murmur which requires no treatment. Nicky has made an amazing recovery and is ready to find a new home where he will be safe and loved forever. He can be a little leery of new people and will do best with someone who has the time and patience to let him learn to trust. Once he knows you he is very playful and busy...loves to play "fetch" and "tug" but can be very nervous about leashes and being handled around his neck. He is a voracious eater (can you blame him?) and will wolf down anything in sight, although not at all food aggressive. He will need to watch the treats and proportions, though. Nick does fine with other dogs but would also be okay as an "only". He is best suited to a home of older children to adults as he can play rough.
