Meet Tug, 30 months old Terrier, American Pit Bull
Tug is a very lovable guy. He was owned by a 14yr old boy that has been through the system himself. Hie mom has a drug addiction and he's been shuffled between Foster Homes and back home several times. This last time his mom disappeared again, he knew that he would lose his Best Friend as Tug could not go into Foster Care with him. The Police Officer told him that since Tug was a Pitbull, he would be taken to Animal Control and be put to sleep. Animal Control assured him this would not happen. He sat there for 3 mnths waiting for someone to come save him. No rescue came for him as he has some minor facial defects. Just when they thought they would have no choice but to end his life, Fur Angels was made aware of him. We could not let that happen.Tug is now safe in Foster Care with Fur Angels. He's such a wonderful boy that only wants to be loved. He was diagnosed with seventh Cranial Nerve Paralysis, with no known cause. The boy had told Animal Control that the people he got him from told him he was stepped in his head as a puppy. While that's possible, there are other possible causes for it as well. Basically this affects the left side of his face. It's similar to Bell's Palsy in people. He has no control of his left ear or cheek. He also had no control over his left eye. He was totally unable to blink and therefore was not able to close it to protect it or keep it hydrated. Due to this, we removed his eye. It would have required drops several times a day and would have been damaged by anything that he may come across. This has not stopped him in any way. He still runs and plays as much as he can. He's nice with other dogs and cats. He seems to be fine with children as well. He does need work on his manners as the boy did not have the understanding to be able to train him correctly. He does like to jump up on you for attention and we are working on this. He 's working on his crate training as well and he seems to be getting it. He also needs work on his leash skills. He loves to snuggle on the bed or couch with you. All he wants is a place to feel safe and be loved. If you are interested in Tug, please visit our website www.furangelsas.com and fill out our on-line application. Someone will be in touch with you just as soon as we are able to.
