Cairo (aka Cara) is a very special and stunning girl looking for her forever family. Cara is very sweet and sassy and really appreciates having effective leadership. She is not a cuddly girl who enjoys a squeeze or a hug but she does appreciate a good pet or praise from her human. She enjoys going on long walks and does well on a leash. When you return into the house she likes to survey a bit and then will come and sit at your feet to rest. When you are working around the house or yard, she will do her thing but circle back to you on regular intervals to check in and make sure all is going well. Her repertoire of commands include: Sit, get back, dont pull, lets go and leave it. She is a good traveler but gets a little nervous when her situation changes and needs a little decompression time. She has also been introduced to cats (on leash) and showed mild interest but moved along when she was told leave it. She does have off leash privileges with other dogs in a supervised setting with her current foster. She appears to be doing well after and is having no issues. Cairo does have some attributes of an alpha female but thus far has been quick to appropriately respond to the correction leave it. Cairo definitely wants to know who her leader is and works to gain their attention. Cairo is going to be a fantastic companion pet for someone who establishes leadership in the home and respects her boundaries. She quickly becomes devoted and wants to please. Optimally she would like to be the only dog in the home and we do not recommend she be placed in a home that has small children or where small children visit frequently. There have been no adverse events with her and small children, they just seem to make her anxiety level much higher and we want both she and her adoptive family to be happy.
