Meet Caroline. Carline was living in poverty, tied out on a porch all alone, and was clearly in need of significant medical care. She's had a tough life...originally a stray, she wandered up to an elderly woman's home, who took her in. The woman had a stroke in May and went to live in a nursing home, so for the last four months, this poor pup has been living tied up alone with only friends of the owner occasionally dropping by to give her food and water. Her skin and coat issues are likely due to flea allergies and poor diet, which are all treatable. Worthy Dog was contacted to help her, and at first meeting, we quickly knew she's a friendly, sweet pup who is timid and needs a little time to trust. Caroline was seen by our vet and given a medicated bath on intake to soothe her raw, cracked skin, and a nail trim. She was a little stressed and shaking at the vet, unsure of what was happening to her. She found some solace resting her head in her foster mom's lap, and remained very sweet and submissive with the staff as they examined her. This poor pup has been living alone and in pain for months in need of medical care. She had ear infections in both ears, her skin is in rough shape from flea allergy dermatitis, and she has a secondary skin infection from scratching. Thankfully, she is heartworm negative, which is a miracle, and her skin issues can all be treated with meds, medicated baths, and a healthy diet. She's already settling into her new foster home, living with 2 other dogs and a kitty. She will need time to heal and trust her new surroundings, but she's already reaching out to her foster mom for affection and enjoying belly rubs on the couch.
