Meet Leon! Leon entered Orange County Animal Care as a stray. When he wasn't claimed and began to decline in the shelter environment, volunteers advocated for his rescue. We scooped him up on April 13th to become a Frosted Face. Leon is 13 years old, weighs 30 lbs., and is very sweet. Blind and hearing impaired, he is a gentle old soul who is doesn't seek out attention but responds well when you get down on his level to interact. We are looking for a special family to give Leon the loving, safe, and comfortable home he deserves. Might it be you? Soon after Leon arrived at FFF, he went to live in a Foster home for extra TLC. While there, he ate well, grew stronger, and his overall health improved. He went from being skittish to welcoming pets and cuddles. His foster family described Leon as a mellow, very easy dog to take care of who loves to lounge and nap in his bed. We learned that he circles when he needs to go outside to potty and is fine with other dogs, just not very interested in them! Leon thrives in a home environment but is overwhelmed on-site with so many other dogs and activity. So, when his first foster family could no longer care for him due to frequent travel, we were thrilled when another foster family stepped up. We received a great update about how well Leon is settling in: "Leon has has been the perfect guest - quiet, undemanding, entertains himself, sleeps well, not a picky eater. And he has the softest fur! Leon rides great in a car. We put him in a car seat so he doesn't slide around. We had some friends over last night, and he willingly accepted their pets. We went to their house today to meet their calm dogs, and Leon handled it in his normal go-with-the-flow style. Absolutely no reaction from him, and he was comfortable enough for a little snooze and to sniff all the plants. A few other things we've learned: *Leon will NOT be your fitness pal, this boy is a sloowwww walker for sure. Lots of stops for sniffs and twists and turns. *We came home from our walk to find a toy had been delivered. And he actually rolled it around to try & get the treats out - successfully! First toy we've been able to interest him in. *He's fully housetrained, no accidents after the 2nd day. No bellybands, no marking. We take him out every 2-3 hrs since we don't have a doggy door. *He's still a sweet, sweet, agreeable boy, no bad habits we've seen. This boy needs a patient loving family who understands his special needs." Leon has a wonderful Foster home, but he deserves a forever home where he can feel settled, secure, and loved.
