Meatball is a two year old Rottweiler mix who weighs 90 pounds. He is built like a Rottweiler but has a shorter coat, so perhaps American Bulldog or some such breed is his mix. Meatball's animal shelter kept deferring his "due out date" because they liked him so much they really wanted to see him rescued, and they facilitated his transport to a local airport so he could be flown to us and to safety. He's full of play, fun and energy, and he thoroughly LOVES the water. This guy still acts puppyish and will get excited to meet you, but he settles down. He really doesn’t know how big he is yet, so we suggest a home with no small children or small animals. Meatball would do well with a family that is active so he can join in. He’s been failed a lot in his two short years, so we want to get this guy his best home yet! Though he was in play groups at the shelter, he has shown aggression towards other dogs with us so we have to recommend him for a home with no other pets.Adoption processWe ask that you bring the whole family (including the four legged) so we can best match you with the right dog. Once you have found your new companion we will have you fill out a one page adoption agreement. All dogs go home spayed or neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, with a collar, and ID tag. Our donations for dogs may vary depending on gender, age, breed and medical needs. Generally our male Dobermans are $250-300 with possible flexibility for seniors. Our female Dobermans are generally a $350 donation, due to the fact that it is more difficult for us to get spay appointments and therefore, we are paying more for those surgeries at other vet clinics. We have to ask more just to make ends meet for now. Little dogs and non-Dobermans are still generally a $200 donation.Shelter locationWe are located on a small ranch nestled in the orchards of Fillmore, ca. We are open every saturday from 11:00am-3:00pm for open house adoptions as long as you have an approved application. We have to keep visitors to a minimum due to the pandemic. We can arrange weekday or sunday visits by appointment as well.
