Dante is new with us as of August 7, 2021. He was a favorite among a number of people including the pilots that flew him to us. Dante waited longer than he should have had to because his destination changed when the first rescue group that committed to him fell though, so while waiting for transport to us, he redirected at a shelter volunteer who pulled him back by his collar as he was arguing with the dog in the adjacent kennel, causing a nip to the volunteer that broke skin. That meant Dante had to be quarantined for 10 days, finally completing his stay at the shelter. He now lives with a playful, female Dobie so we think he could share his home with a similar companion. Plus, he knows a few obedience commands! He's medium-sized for a male and about 2 years old.Adoption processWe ask that you bring the whole family (including the four legged) so we can best match you with the right dog. Once you have found your new companion we will have you fill out a one page adoption agreement. All dogs go home spayed or neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, with a collar, and ID tag. Our donations for dogs may vary depending on gender, age, breed and medical needs. Generally our male Dobermans are $250-300 with possible flexibility for seniors. Our female Dobermans are generally a $350 donation, due to the fact that it is more difficult for us to get spay appointments and therefore, we are paying more for those surgeries at other vet clinics. We have to ask more just to make ends meet for now. Little dogs and non-Dobermans are still generally a $200 donation.Shelter locationWe are located on a small ranch nestled in the orchards of Fillmore, ca. We are open every saturday from 11:00am-3:00pm for open house adoptions as long as you have an approved application. We have to keep visitors to a minimum due to the pandemic. We can arrange weekday or sunday visits by appointment as well.
