We're often approached by animal shelters located in remote areas where adoptions are very low. Whenever possible we try to rescue a dog or two from these shelters, and the staff members identify those they like the best and advocate for. One such dog we took in April 6, 2022 is Cheryl, a 2-3 year Doberman mix. The shelter manager raved about how friendly and confident she was when out for walks and visits, and we agree. Cheryl does share a kennel with other dogs but she can be dominant, so we would ideally like to see her with dogs her size or large and preferably male. She would probably be equally happy to be the only dog as well.Adoption processWe ask that you bring the whole family (including the four legged) so we can best match you with the right dog. Once you have found your new companion we will have you fill out a one page adoption agreement. All dogs go home spayed or neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, with a collar, and ID tag. Our donations for dogs may vary depending on gender, age, breed and medical needs. Generally our male Dobermans are $250-300 with possible flexibility for seniors. Our female Dobermans are generally a $350 donation, due to the fact that it is more difficult for us to get spay appointments and therefore, we are paying more for those surgeries at other vet clinics. We have to ask more just to make ends meet for now. Little dogs and non-Dobermans are still generally a $200 donation.Shelter locationWe are located on a small ranch nestled in the orchards of Fillmore, ca. We are open every saturday from 11:00am-3:00pm for open house adoptions as long as you have an approved application. We have to keep visitors to a minimum due to the pandemic. We can arrange weekday or sunday visits by appointment as well.
