Huxley is a 1-year-9-month-old Australian Shepherd/Husky mix weighing 50 pounds. He came to the shelter as a stray so his history is unknown. PLEASE READ THE FULL BIO! Huxley is NOT for the 1st time dog owner!! His combination of breeds makes him a very active, energetic, intelligent, and stubborn dog! He will not do well if left alone or confined for more than a few hours at a time, this will lead to depression and destructive behavior. Huxley is very friendly and outgoing, he wants to be everyone's friend. Knows commands sit and paw. Obedience training is recommended, has no leash manners. Very affectionate, gives the biggest hugs and gentlest of kisses. Weekly grooming/brushing is needed. Was not overly interested in cats, may have never seen them before. Is selective with other dogs, and has an alpha personality. He will not be placed in a home with small children (under 12 years old).THIS BREED SHOULD NEVER BE LET OFF LEASH!!! Huskies love to run and unless they are carefully guarded and only allowed to run free in enclosed areas, an off-leash Husky will soon become a lost Husky...or worse. Please do not think that if you do the training, that you will be able to trust your Husky off-leash.His adoption fee is $200, this includes his neuter, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention, and microchipped. His dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at the time of adoption, which is an additional $20.75. Please visit the shelter to meet him, we show dogs Monday through Friday 1 pm-4:30 pm, and Saturday 1 pm-3:30 pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review. Please note, we do not offer same-day adoptions and there is a $10 non-refundable application fee.Come and meet your new best friend today!
