Xena is the sweetest little lady who needs a soft place to land and a family to help her build confidence. She came to the shelter from a home with too many animals, so needs help with socialization. She’s a shy little thing who warms up to her trusted people and loves touch and affection if you take things slowly. Here’s what one volunteer had to say about her:“Xena was very shy in kennel. She allowed leashing but did not seem to know how to walk. She allowed me to pick her up and carry her out. There were no yards available so I took her to the grooming room. She immediately hid under the tub but after a little while of sitting with her she ventured out and started to accept treats. She accepted pets cautiously and even gave kisses. The shelter is overwhelming for Xena but she has plenty of potential to be a loving companion. She has clearly had some type of socialization in her life and wants to trust and bond. Very sweet mama.”Since that was written, Xena has gotten more used to the leash and will easily make the short journey from her kennel to a play yard. She needs to keep working on being brave and getting used to normal doggy things, and needs a family committed to keeping her safe and secure at home. Xena has shared her kennel while in the shelter and may benefit from a confident doggy pal to show her the ropes in her future home. Please ask to meet Xena today!!
