Adopt Kid Cudi a Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut - with White Australian Shepherd /

Location:
Milton, DE
Description:

Dog Name: Kid CudiBreed: Australian shepherd Sex: MAge: 3 years Weight: 50 lbsMedical needs: He is scheduled for his neuter 8/8/23 at Dover Brandywine Valley SPCA. Keeping the appointment is a condition of adoption. Adopters must either live in DE or within 1 hour of where the appointment is, and must agree to keeping the appointment prior to a meet being scheduled. Housebroken: yes, he’s doing great!Crate trained: there are times where his stubborn streak comes out and he needs a little nudge on the backside to go in his crate. But once in he’s amazing! Just lays there and takes it all in. At first he’s a little borky when he gets used to a new house, but after he is familiar with the home the only time he’ll make noise is A- “gotta goooo” B- “hey, foster lady, I hear weird sounds” C- “you’re five minutes late with my breakfast , and I love a routine”Good in the car: he’s an anxious dude who doesn’t like getting in the car. And once in, he’ll try to ride ON your dash. So a doggie seatbelt is encouraged, especially if you plan on many car trips. With time and patience we think he’d enjoy car rides, because he is super curious.Good on a leash: for the most part. ‍ HE IS A FLIGHT RISK, so he MUST be double-leashed (with his martingale collar/leash he came with, AND the slip-lead). Once he settles in to your home (we’re talking about WEEKS and MONTHS later) you can probably leave the slip-lead inside. Again with the stubbornness… there are times he wants to go THIS way and you’re telling him to go THAT way. Stand your ground and don’t let him take the lead, and he’ll quickly resign himself to his fate Energy level: medium. Once he’s done being a scared, shy guy he likes to play with soft toys, and will find and dissect any squeakers that come his way.Does he need a fenced-in yard? No, with his steady demeanor he’d be fine with leash walks.Dog Friendly: yes, with a slow intro. He is still learning how to “dog” and is easily overwhelmed and frightened, but desperately wants to be one of the pack. He will need monitored and short playtimes until he’s more comfortable in your household.Does he need another dog in the home: Absolutely. His best companion would have a steady energy level; no puppy-in-your-face energy for this guy. That kind of nonsense is too overwhelming and he just shuts down and pancakes.Cat friendly: he ignores them, and when they move super crazy he gets intimidated and pancakes to the ground. We have very dog-savvy cats, and he’s starting to get excited when he sees his new friends walk in the room.Kid Friendly: over 10 years old. He’s a timid guy who will take MONTHS of patience and needs humans that understand this. A noisy toddler all up in his grill is a huge no.Social level: homeschool kid at prom. He’s spent all of his 3 years doing the best he can with zero instruction. Traits that make your foster special:Kid Cudi is a sweet, curious guy who needs A LOT of help navigating through the big wide . All of the sounds, smells, everyday routines that we take for granted in a household are brand new to him… and scary. He will look to his humans for direction and instructions, and he NEEDS a home that will constantly give him guidance. To help him succeed, he will only be adopted out to people with working dog experience. These people know that you can NEVER give an inch; discipline and routine never take a “vacation/off day”. Kid Cudi has more pancakes than iHop, and will need patience and guidance to work his way into being a confident pup. we know he’s got an amazing, quirky, playful dog buried deep inside his 90’s frosted tip hairdo. And we’re excited to find him the home that will help him discover it.Foster’s Location: Dover, DEApplication can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email XXXX@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app)##1762269##
