My name is Kathryn and my fiance is Tim. We have two small children (1 and 2 years old) and we are looking for a puppy to add to our family! We were interested in either a male or female puppy, toy, small or medium breed. Puppies only! We are looking for a breed that will fit the following: [Pee-pad training training in our home] [Low energy level] [Intelligent and easy to train] [Doesn't mind an apartment sized home] [Good with young children, strangers, and other animals] [Not a guard dog] [Not destructive of furniture or carpets] [Low maintenance with grooming (preferably a short or medium coat)] [Lap dog/Couch potato] ... We came across a few breeds that we were interested in, but we have an open mind and wouldn't mind looking into other breeds or hybrids: -Phalene -Papillon -Spaniel(s) -Fox Terrier-Beagle -Chocolate Labrador Retriever ... A little about my family: I'm a full time nursing student, and when I'm not home, my fiance is with our children. Tim works for the Navy. I visit my family in Boston 3 weekends a month, and would like taking our dog with us for the ride. I generally take my children for a stroll approx. 5x a week for at least an hour, maybe more. We live in a private neighborhood and our dog will be socialized with friendly neighbors and their dogs. We live a few houses away from a private beach and have plenty of outdoor space for our dog. We have a medium sized yard but was planning on gating off an area for our dog to get some occasional outdoor play and fresh air. We plan on housebreaking our dog to go indoors because I don't feel too comfortable having my dog leave my site if I let him out to use the bathroom. I have a cat so I'm hoping they will get along. My cat is very old and I wouldn't doubt that he will be passing away in less than 2 years. Generally we are looking for a very friendly dog that is okay in the house and doesn't mind going for occasional walks and drives. I'm not looking for a show quality dog, just a dog with a great personality and easy-going. My children are very friendly and laid back, very well behaved.
