Adelaide is a beautiful, healthy little dachshund mix (probably chiweenie) around 8 to 12 months old, and still very filled with puppy energy. She is very playful and can be mischievous. She has been known to take a tour of the dining room table in search of leftovers or maybe just a better view. Silly little doggie! Adelaide is very affectionate and loves playing with her two foster dog cousins. She's very cuddly and gives kisses to everyone in the house. Snuggling with humans and sleeping in their beds are among her greatest desires. She does not bark at strangers or when the doorbell rings, but does get nervous at strange noises like loud cars and helicopters. She's a smart little cookie and has already learned to use the doggy ramps and doggie stairs. She would do best with another playmate of similar energy. She loves everyone in the house equally (kids and adults), so does not attach herself to just one person. Adelaide scores high with her potty skills but she’s not 100% yet. Adelaide will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
