I am a full-sized Aussie with exquisite blue eyes and a adorable blue merle coat. I'm a sweet old man of about 10 yrs, but you'd never know because I have all the energy of a young stud and can keep up with the best of them. I'm still an active boy, so I like going for long walks and exploring the outdoors. I'm looking for a loyal, committed family to help me live out my golden years - preferably 1 with Aussie or herding dog experience. I'm well trained and know all my basic stuff, so no need for puppy training. However, I will need someone with patience and experience to help me thrive. You see, I can get nervous of new people in my space, especially if they do unexpected or surprising things. I need slow, structured introductions with strangers in the home; with proper greetings, I do wonderfully with people - I'm very social and loving - but I do need extra patience and work to ensure things don't catch me off guard. I was mistreated by some kids in my previous home as well, so kids make me nervous. Combined with their unpredictability, I would do best in a home with more mature humans. I'm a very devoted companion, and would love to follow you everywhere you go. I will shower you with love and affection, and all I ask for is a little work helping me manage some of my anxieties. Like any old soul who's been through troubled times, I come with a bit of baggage - I get that. To help me transition successfully into my forever home, TCPR is looking to place me in a foster-to-adopt home to help provide my new family with all of the tools they will need for success. This will include formal training between me and my adopter so they can best understand how to help me succeed. I don't want you to think I'm all work and no play, though - I'm really a sweet boy. I'm a bit of a clown, and I promise to keep you laughing. I love my people deeply and will always greet you with an enthusiastic Aussie hop. I've lived well with other pets so would likely do well with another canine companion (as long as they don't steal too many of my chin scratches!) and dog-savvy cats. I just received a dental cleaning as well, so I can dazzle you with my pearly white smile! I've been let down by people in the past, so I'm looking for a stable home that can give me a comfy, safe, happy ending. If that sounds like your home, apply to meet me today! Adoption charge: $450, which includes a TCPR-covered training course/consultation MEET ME/ADOPT ME: If you’d like to arrange a meeting or begin the adoption process, please fill out an adoption form by visiting www.twincitiespetrescue.org/adopt/adopt-a-dog/ .
