Adopt Duckie a Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut Australian Cattle Dog / American Pit
We firmy believe that DUCKIE deserves a second chance! Yes, he became a nuisance for the residents of the community where he was allowed to free roam... but foraging for food in trash cans and following his instinctual prey drive is paramount to survival. And, ducks look mighty appetizing to a hungry dog, and that's when Duckie got into big trouble and unfortunately earned his name! In addition, the other dog in his company killed a kitten. 😿 🚫🦆 We truly understand the residents' frustrations and sadness at losing their ducks and pet, but we also empathize with a dog permitted to roam unchecked by his owner and ultimately abandoned by the very folks who were supposed to love and protect him. 😢 So, we are seeking a responsible, loving home for this 3 yr old Australian Cattle Dog "Red Heeler" mix. Duckie will require a home with a fenced backyard to ensure his safety and the well-being of any ducks/chickens in the neighborhood. 🏡 Duckie is playful with the other friendly dogs in his living area, but most definitely prefers the ladies and neutered males. He walks well on a leash/harness, and absolutely adores people. Because he "leans in" to be loved and hugs us so tightly, our staff & volunteers have nicknamed him "Velcro," which we much prefer over "Duckie" for obvious reasons. He would thrive as the partner of a single person/couple or active retirees, seeking a canine companion and friend. This boy will give you many years of unconditional love and companionship. ? Duckie is ready to earn a new name that better reflects his true personality and handsome good looks! 😊Please stop by during our visiting hours Mon-Fri 10am-3pm (Tues 12pm-3pm) to meet Duckie. Please bring your dog(s) and children along for the visit to ensure compatibility. 🐾*Duckie's adoption fee is $75, which includes worming, neutering, vaccines, microchip, and a free vet check with one of our participating veterinarians. Duckie tested heartworm positive, but he is on a monthly heartworm preventative and doing great. An approved adoption application always applies!Thank you to Laura Sanders of Jloluphotography.com for capturing Duckie's innate sweetness and loving nature. ?
