Adopt Farrah a White Rat Terrier / Mixed dog in Belleville, MI (32155766)
Please read full description before submitting application:Meet Farrah - a very shy, nervous and skittish little girl. Farrah came to us from Texas where she was found as a stray. She very clearly has not been around many humans or had much socialization. She usually will run away or hide from new people, sometimes she may even bark. While she enjoys the occasional treat or toy, she doesn't seem to be extremely motivated by them which can make the adjustment process take a bit longer. Farrah may not be the dog that will come over for pets right away - it may even take several weeks or months to create that type of bond with her.Farrah has slowly begun to overcome her fear of new people and will allow a select few volunteers in her kennel to leash her up for short walks. It is important for her new owners to be aware and understanding of canine body language so they can recognize when a situation may be overwhelming and adjust as she becomes more comfortable. Farrah has not had much experience socializing with cats or other dogs, so slow introductions are recommended. Because of her nervous temperament we suggest Farrah go into a home without younger children.Farrah will be fearful meeting new people, so we are happy to work with potential adopters on scheduling multiple appointments if needed before trying taking her home. Farrah will need a calm household to adjust to and owners who are extremely patient with fearful dogs. If you think your home may be the right fit for Farrah, please submit an application at https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoption-application or call 734-461-XXXX if you have any questions. Farrah is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm negative and on monthly preventatives for fleas/ticks/heartworm.
