I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:15Gopher came into the shelter as a stray with a paw injury, which is on the mend. He's an adorable velvety hippo-type pittie with the most gorgeous brown eyes.He seems pretty overwhelmed in the shelter environment, and spends most of his yard time sniffing around and exploring independently, but seems to be warming up to people and getting more attention and affection. Volunteers love this handsome chonky guy. "Gopher’s pretty independent and mellow, but can be won over easily with tasty snacks and butt scritches. He’s learned “sit” and “down” already, too. And he also has a pretty sweet smile!"We introduced him to other dogs and he comes on pretty strong and would benefit from slow introductions to other dogs to help him learn better social skills. Positive reinforcement based training will be important in his new home to help him gain confidence and bond with his new family. Gopher is around 5 years old and is 55 pounds. May 28, 2024, 1:04 pm
