Adopt Gunner a White - with Tan, Yellow or Fawn Akita / Mixed dog in Dayton
I adopted Gunner two years ago from SICSA where he was brought in as a stray with an unknown background. At 1st, he was aloof and distant. He is a very intelligent dog and the best way to bond with him is through training. He is happy and fulfilled when he knows what is expected of him; having a routine that includes moderate exercise, learning new tricks, and having new experiences. Once he begins to bond with you, his personality really opens up and he is a pure joy to share your life with. He is much more emotionally sensitive than his aloof demeanor implies, and I suspect past abuse as even after two years of only love and positive reinforcement, he will still flinch at an unexpected hand raise occasionally. He is a dream dog in all areas, but after a traumatic period in our lives has developed separation anxiety. He must go to an experienced adopter that is familiar with desensitization training/subthreshold training.
