WEIGHT: ~95lbs.Do you keep asking your parents for a pony and they keep saying no? Maybe next time you should ask them for Hunter! Weighing in at a solid 95 pounds, this big loveable lug may as well be a small horse. Sure, Hunter is a few pounds overweight but that doesn't stop him from goofing off in the yard, playing with other dogs, and jumping in the pool (yes, even in the rain)! At 6 years of age this gentle giant truly deserves to find himself his forever home. He's a pretty clever guy and has been known to open doors when no one is looking so a home with a secure and escape-artist proof yard would suit him well. Because he could stand to lose a few lbs. to be in optimum health as he approaches his early senior years, he is looking for adopters that are going to be up for daily walks and playtime. He is great with older kids and often partakes in our kids' camp and after school programs. That said, he can be a bit sensitive to handling so a home with 'handsy' or 'grabby' young children might not be the best fit. We heard through the grapevine that he has a history of chasing cats, so maybe no felines; but, with proper introduction here at the shelter, a canine buddy would be great for him! Hunter has been hanging out in a rad foster home. Here is what his foster has to say about him."He's very confident- he knows what he wants and isn't afraid to ask for it (or take it, like a full bag of treats left on the counter ??). He loves attention- will need a fairly active home to keep him stimulated. He would thrive in a home with another playful dog! He's respectful of my dog's boundaries but it's obvious he would love a little more play time from him. Has a pretty high prey drive. He seems completely potty trained. In general, he loves playing, going in and out of the yard, stuffed play toys, and treats of course! He's loyal and protective, but not aggressive to other people. When I think of the definition of a "dog" he pretty much fits the bill. He'd be a super fun, goofy, loving addition to any home." Think he might be the pony, I mean dog, for you?
