Meet Jackie! This sweet little senior Dachshund came into the rescue after her dad died and her mom went into assisted living. She’s been in the same home living as part of a family her entire life and has never known instability. Her extended family reached out to Worthy Dog for help finding Jackie the forever home she deserves to live out her golden years. We know this sudden life change must be challenging for her, but she has a wonderful, nurturing foster family that has taken her in as their own until her forever family is found. Jackie is living with her foster mom and dad, Debbie and David, and their two dogs who accepted her immediately. She acclimated quickly to her new pack and will follow their lead. This senior girl is, for the most part, laidback but still has some zoomies in her too :grinning:. We learned she was new to leash walking, but her foster parents now walk her every day for exercise and potty breaks. Her mobility is great and Debbie shared that she can fly across the grass when she wants to. ******* We checked in with Debbie for an update: “Jackie is confident and snuggly. She greets new people calmly and quietly and has been very comfortable with my dogs and our young, large Doodle granddog who is staying with us. She is not intimidated one bit by his size or energy level, and she comes up to his ankles! She has not met my grandkids yet, but I do not doubt that Jackie would be very comfortable around children. She is not yappy or snappy. She is a happy camper lying with her blanket beside me in my chair. She loves food time and treats and sleeps quietly through the night with her blankie and a bed beside our bed. She burrows under her blanket and is quiet all night. Potty training is still a work in progress. She had a fenced yard in her prior home and is learning to go potty on leash. She’s already improved in a short time. As far as crate trained, we have not had to use it much. She went into her crate on her own one time and does not want the door closed and locked. When we leave the home, I have her gated in an area with my other dogs and they all snooze. I love fostering senior babies. My heart hurts for them and loves them more.” ****** We are looking for Dachshund lovers who are looking for a petite little low-rider to love.
