Scar and Spike were from a recent humane case. They were at such a low body condition score (BCS) (weight) that they were transported by the humane officer immediatelliy to the veterinarian who rated them at a BCS of "1", the lowest on the scale before the animal starves. On the call the dogs were timid but seemed hopeful that something better was going to happen. Scar spent her entire life on a chain with only the underneath of the porch for shelter. Spike lived in the backyard with Scar. In foster care, both dogs really blossomed. Scar (now Star) began to trust people. She has, in fact, become quite affectionate. She always walks like a lady on the leash. Spike (now Jodi, named after one of the police officers on scene) is the silly one. She bounces around, wanting to play. She will chase cats, squirrels and bunnies. She is a happy dog. They both are very clean in their pen and seem like they would adjust well to being housedogs if on a bathroom schedule. Jodi is also very good in a crate. Both LOVE Kong balls filled with peanut butter and treats. While the dogs get along well they are not bonded and can be adopted together or separately.
