Adopt KIKI a Black - with White Border Collie / Cattle Dog / Mixed dog in Boise
***NEEDS FUREVER HOME***Currently in Rexburg Oh, how I love this brave, resilient girl! Smart 2-3 year old Kiki came into the rescue with her 13 (!!!) puppies. Scared and untrusting, she took some time to realize that humans can be relied upon for love, soft words, and ear scratches. Oh, and hot dogs! 😉 Kiki wants nothing more than to spend time with her special person. If she’s left alone, she gets lonely and bored and may hatch up escape plans. She does well with other dogs, enjoys being outside, and loves being told she’s a good girl. She would make a great hiking partner, agility dog, or even working dog. Kiki is so, so smart! Training will be essential to her being happy and healthy. She will need a family who is willing to move slowly with her and have patience if she doesn’t warm up right away. But once she trusts you, her heart is yours forever! Kiki is UTD on shots. She will be fully vetted (including spay) at the rescue’s expense. She is an Idaho Shag, and anyone familiar with the breed can tell you how awesome they are! As long as she’s with her person, KIKI is content, but she gets bored when left alone. She will resort to escape plans to keep herself occupied. For this reason, a home with a yard and secure fence is a must for her. KIKI is working on house training. She lived outside before coming into rescue, so that’s a new skill. She has made a lot of progress, though. She would do great with a doggy door. KIKI doesn’t like the crate. She will escape, pretty much at will. Did I mention how smart she is? She usually sleeps on her bed in a separate room in her foster home. She would likely be happier sleeping closer to the family, though—maybe even in a bedroom. KIKI needs a strong, patient person to take charge of her training and help her reach her full potential. Someone who will teach her to play and enjoy life. She would love to be your constant companion! Because she’s a herding breed, children over the age of 10 would probably be best. She does like to round up her humans, and would likely be a little overwhelming for small children. KIKI shows an interest in cats, and chases if they run, so a home without cats or small critters would be best.
