She doesn’t have the typical endless energy of most Catahoula’s though. She does love her down time and snuggles. Her favorite activities consist of wrestling and de-stuffing her toys. She can be vocal and mouthy while playing. Which can be intimidating for some. On her walks she is more of a sniffer and is very curious. She does well with other dogs but doesn't like to share her toys and doesn't mind letting them know it's hers! Strictly with her voice not her teeth! Ear rubs and belly rubs seem to relax her, if she initiates a play that is too rough with her humans. Lucy enjoys children but doesn't understand her size or that mouth play can be a bit much. She knows the command sit and will come if you call her name. Lucy also isn't fazed by cats at all and does amazing around them. Her foster mom thinks she has a heart of gold and is an old soul but occasionally brings out the puppy play. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family. If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered. Lucy’s adoption donation is $450 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test, is on preventative, microchip and neuter depending on age at time of adoption. If the dog is too young for a spay/neuter, then they will be adopted with a spay/neuter contract and deposit. We do not have a physical shelter; all our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
