Meet Maggie ! Maggie was born September 28th 2023. Her Mom was a service dog and frequently is at school for children with varied experiences and challenges. She is docile and gentle. The dad was a rescue from a breeder who had him outside. She didn’t want him anymore because he wouldn’t breed and was thought to be sterile. He is very calm and gentle and was a 40 lb. Standard Poodle and Mom a 50 lb. Sheepadoodle. Maggie’s Grand parents were Old English Sheepdog and Standard Poodle. Maggie was expected to be 45 lbs. at full grown size. She is currently 55 lbs. at 7.5 months and will continue to grow. She will need to wait to be spayed until her growth plates close usually a year to 14 months. She is not microchiped and will be needing this. All shots have been done at this time. She itches with Chicken and Salmon based food and is currently on Purina Pro Plan Puppy sensitive stomach Lamb and oatmeal food and is thriving. Maggie needs lots of physical exercise but only this will energize her more. Puzzles and things that work her mind with the physical exercise is what will wear her out. A healthy lifestyle of both. I walk her at least 1.5 to 2.5 miles a day and she has been in obedience class weekly since March 6th. Currently in Puppy grad class at Gem City and is paid and running until June 25th on Tuesdays at 11:15 am. She is very smart, learns well with ongoing training and was top dog and trick dog in her last class. She is non aggressive and mostly well behaved. She’s still jumping and paws at you and is a bit rough because of her size and strength. She is a natural herding dog and plays like a puppy but it’s a tough play due to her size. She is gentle inside the house with my small dog but in the open yard she plays full tilt and too much for a little dog. She likes to do tricks and immediately is in working mode with her training collar on. This should continue at all times on lead due to her size. There is a command used on lead so she knows she is allowed to break from work mode. No house issues, food agression etc... She’s a puppy and will chew on shoes, socks etc... Zoomies happen. Crate trained although she does sleep with me at night. She is a big cuddle bug. She would do well with another larger dog to play with and someone that is strong and willing to continue to train her. She would do great with lots of yard and could be a great farm dog as well. Her coat is more desirable of the doodle breed but must be brushed a couple times a week and groomer at 4 weeks. Maggie has not had her 1st heat cycle at this time. As of now she would do best with no small children or senior adults. She is a great dog but a strong puppy with lots of strength and energy. I will train new owner on commands and advice. She will need the right match. Maggie is a super intuitive and knows when something is off.She is fostered in Dayton Ohio. This will be a foster to adopt. Adoption will not be final until the spay and chip are completed by SRC’s vet of choice.
