MELBA JEAN—lover of dogs, cats, and her humans too. This 5 month old 22 pound lowrider has settled in to her Maynard MA foster home. She’s house trained, enjoys her crate time, and is a country girl at heart. She’d prefer forever home similar to what she has now… a canine friend, a yard to romp in, and a cat would be the bonus! She is walking well on leash and getting used to all of the new surroundings in her neighborhood.Her foster mom says—“We really love spending our days with her. She’s a pro-cuddler. Melba is starting to smile more and more. She plays and wrestles with our resident dog, they love to play tag and chase around the yard. We just love how smiley she's getting and I think she's about ready to take on some new training. We just love how smiley she's getting and seems like we've made the leap ahead on potty training! Melba and Duncan (resident dog) are playing all the time, they're very sweet to each other.” Rescue story ––Mom was a stray and taken in by a good samaritan. During this timeframe, your pups not only see our isolation vet twice but also receive additional rounds of dewormer along with pre + probiotics; transition to Canidae food; additional behavior assessments as they decompress; and so much love and thoughtfulness from our volunteers. Your pups are bathed at intake and again before pick up. All are paired in kennels with littermates or for those that travel alone, we have a rotation of volunteers to visit with them. We provide enrichment throughout the day and meditation music during nap time and through the overnight. We use these 48 hours to ready your pup to transition into a foster or adoptive home and do all that we can to reduce their stress while they are with us.
