Adopt Milo a Gray/Blue/Silver/Salt & Pepper Great Dane / Mixed dog in Inver
Inver Grove Heights, MN
Status: AVAILABLEUpdate 10/10/2021Milo continues to be a real love bug with everyone. He's now welcomed another foster dog into his home and continues to enjoy dog park heaven. A second vet has confirmed the first vet's opinion that he has laryngeal paralysis. It's not something this vet recommends treating immediately. Nobody believes he's over 10 years old. He has the spunk of a much younger Dane. He deserves a comfortable retirement home.9/2/2021 Introducing Milo!Milo is a sweetly mannered senior boy, currently 10 years young with a lot of love and affection yet to share. His foster mom states he is a typical Velcro Dane that always wants to be right by her side! He is extremely friendly and outgoing, and loves to take in all the sniffs on his walks.Milo is housetrained, UTD on his vaccines, neutered and gastropexied. He does very well with free roam. He is not currently crated and is a perfect gentleman when left home alone. He knows a few basic commands including sit, off, come (to his name), and leave it. He has been known to bark if someone comes to the door or he thinks something is going on outside, but listens well and stops barking when told to. If you have super close neighbors or share a wall with them (multi-unit housing), he may not be their cup of tea due to this occasional barking. Foster mom believes a stand alone home would suit him best. He loves walks! He may pull a bit out of pure excitement when first leashing up, but otherwise has good leash skills and manners. He really enjoys exploring the local dog park, which is also a great way for him to get in some exercise! He does not require a fenced in yard in his forever home provided he is adequately exercised with walks and/or dog park outings. Milo is currently in a foster home with an adult human (female), a small dog, two cats, and a parrot. He loves every human he meets and enjoys making new friends on walks. While there are no kids in the forever home, his previous home had children and he did well with them. He has also met kids at the park and on walks and overall seemed to like them. While he may bark as people approach the home, this is nothing more than his way of letting foster mom know they have visitors. He enjoys guests and is good with people coming to visit. He loves all other dogs and would love some dog companions in his forever home, though this is not a requirement. He has ignored both the cats and the parrot. While overall very healthy and active for a 10 year old Great Dane, the veterinarian suspects that Milo has laryngeal paralysis which can cause him to have some heavy panting. Currently is not detrimental to his health and well being. Further evaluation could be done if Milo were to have a recommended dental cleaning. If you are interested in learning more about this well mannered, affectionate and active senior fellow, this is what you need to do:~ If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Hannah at XXXX@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about Milo.- If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you could be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue.
