Adopt Mocha a Brown/Chocolate Labrador Retriever / Mixed dog in Warrington

Warrington, PA

My name is Mocha, and I am a 6.5yr old female chocolate Lab Retriever. I am up to date on all my shots, have been micro-chipped, and spayed. My owner was a volunteer with Brookline Lab Retriever Rescue, and recently passed. She was my 1st foster mom and loved me so much she kept me for 3yrs. My journey started with a breeder, and I had lots of pups before I was allowed to stop breeding. My current Foster mom calls me a gentle giant - I just love to snuggle. At my last weigh in I was 109 lbs, but I have lost some – not certain how much, but I make the steps without any problem now, and FM sees a hint of ribs! The veterinarian thinks my ideal weight is about 90 lbs, and I am well on my way! I am walking 3-4 times a day, and no longer limp! My walks are about .8 of a mile and takes me around twenty minutes. I do this 3-4 times a day if it’s not too hot, and if it is, we take shorter walks. I sleep upstairs on the floor next to FM – I am never too far from her. There is a resident Lab here, and we are good friends. I like to play, but I don’t move as fast as she does.We play tug of war, and I like to chew on nylabones, but we NEVER chew on anything else – I am a very good girl…psst, keep goodies off of the counter – I have been known to counter surf in my 1st foster home. I never have accidents inside, and you can trust me in any part of the house. I am not able to be in a crate, but you don’t have to worry, I don’t go on any furniture. Sometimes I bark when I am outside and get startled by other dogs or the deer. I am apprehensive when I meet someone new inside the house for the 1st time. I love my increased exercise. My walks are getting longer, and FD has a hard time keeping up with me when I see someone I remember. I even gallop now. It feels nice to stretch my legs. My stamina is increasing; sometimes I just want to keep going. I forget I have arthritis. I’m still stiff when I get up, I guess I always will be, but I loosen up in no time. I have some pain medicine that I take when I need it, but I don’t take daily – maybe twice a week or so If I am very busy and active My ideal family would like to keep me company when I go for walks. A back yard would be nice, but I really want to get down to a healthy weight so I can stay active and have less pain. My manners are impeccable! I would like having a fur sister or brother but that’s not necessary. I am nice with a medium to larger dog. Cats are good, my 1st home had one. I’m afraid of little people, and people that have these walking sticks with them, – I can’t get out of their way fast enough, and if I fall, I could hurt my R leg again – that is the 1 I had the TPLO surgery on 3 years ago. Snuggle with me and I’m a happy girl. I will be a good friend to you, and I am always where you are.
