Despite being heartworm positive, Onyx doesn't let that dampen her joyful spirit. She is currently on treatment, and with a loving and attentive home, she can manage this condition and lead a happy, healthy life. When Onyx arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, she tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for heartworm-positive dogs like Onyx to be while going through treatments and recovering is with a loving and forever family like yours. If you choose to adopt Onyx, the clinic staff will be with you every step of the way, answering questions and offering support. The process from detection to the final treatment is generally three months and involves some simple at-home steps to keep me safe while Onyx recovers. The last step in the process is a follow-up test six months after her treatment begins. The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful and the staff anticipates that Onyx will fully recover!
