Hi. My name is Oyster. I'm new here. Before MARQ rescued me, I lived at a puppy mill where I was with 100+ other dogs on a property where we all lived in small cages and pens. I had never been on a walk, been indoors, loved on, or handled by humans. Now that I've been in foster care I am learning new things. I love my foster mommy but I still get weary of her and want her to chase me. I let her catch me eventually. I have two foster brothers who have shown me how to potty outside, not be so scared and sit on the couch. They are wild things. I'm not sure if I'll ever be like them. They love to cuddle and kiss. I don't know if I'll ever get there. Only time, love, and patience will tell. I have a history of trying to escape new places. I don't try to escape my foster home because I like it here. I would love a family who'd show me how to keep living the good life and be very patient with me. I would love a dog sibling to continue to give me confidence. I prefer smaller dogs like myself but mom showed me a big dog and taught me they are nice too. Oyster is not a "normal dog but has come a long way since being in foster care. She is a darling girl who deserves a patient home that will carefully allow her to come out of her shell in her own time. Midwest Animal ResQ offers a 30-day adjustment period within which you can evaluate the pet's progress and your adoption decision. If, within those 30 days, you determine your recently adopted pet isn't a good fit, you may return the animal and receive a MARQ credit that can be used toward the adoption of another animal. Our biggest priority is finding the very best match for you, and Completing Families one Tail at a Time! All dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, Heartworm tested, and current on vaccinations and preventions prior to adoption. Our shelter is located at 10312 East 63rd Street in Raytown, MO. We are open to meet pets Tuesday through Friday from 10-6, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10-5. We are closed on Mondays.
