Adopt P-Nut a Black - with White Labrador Retriever / Mixed dog in Horn Lake
Horn Lake, MS
P-Nut was spotted lying in a ditch alongside a rural Mississippi highway. 1st indications were he was just another victim of the road. However when the finder passed him, P-Nut raised his head and moved his tail. When the driver pulled over, got out of the car and approached him, he got to his feet, which took a fair amount of energy. Then he attempted to run away. But hunger, fatigue and what we later found out was heart worm disease, most likely contributed to him only running about 5ft before he collapsed and gave up. P-Nut was seen by a veterinarian very soon after and was determined to be in fair health with the exception of having heart worms. When efforts to find his owners failed he was treated for heart worms, given all vaccinations and has received a clean bill of health. P-nut is a wonderfully mellow dog who loves his people, his female yard partner and his tennis ball. He doesn't run, however he would likely enjoy short slow-paced walks at least until he can work up to something longer. He enjoys being petted and loved on but shies away from sudden loud noises or movements.
