Animal Profile: Raven is a female Cattle Dog/Great Pyrenees mix (best guess), estimated to be 10 months old and currently weighing 50lbs. We do not anticipate that she will grow much more . She and her 3 siblings were surrendered to Freer Animal Shelter and were then taken in by our rescue partner in Texas Raven is shy until she gets to know you, then is a total sweetheart, she will need someone willing help her build her confidence and trust but also adore her sweet side. Due to her personality we will only be considering adoption to families with homes with secure fenced yards outside of the city . Dog experience and a canine companion preferred. We will post more information as we get to know her in foster care. Foster Update: Miss Raven is shy, but very sweet. She has excellent crate manners and is potty trained having no accidents in her current foster home. Raven looks to the resident dogs (a Doberman and a Chihuahua) for guidance in every day life. She walks well on a leash, and does not have any desire to approach new people or other dogs on walks. Raven is food motivated, and her foster mom is currently working on confidence building through leash training, exposure and patience. Raven took a few days to start to settle in and approach her foster mom for affection. She does startle easily, and would do best in a home without young children. Raven will need a patient, understanding adopter that is committed to helping her live her best life. She needs a companion (or two or three) in her adoptive home. She does need a securely fenced yard, and her ideal adopter would have shy dog experience. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.
