Adopt Rio a Black Siberian Husky / Mixed dog in Carol Stream, IL (31415303)
Carol Stream, IL
Rio is a wonderfully active boy who came in to us because he got in trouble chasing cows in his previous home. Rio is the classic Siberian who shows that a proper containment plan that is used *at all times* is critical for Siberian Huskies. Thankfully the owner of the calves did not shoot this outgoing boy, and instead he was sent to rescue to find a proper home. We are pretty sure Rio was mainly an outdoor dog (who was no doubt bored, and thus found his fun chasing cows) as he did not seem to be housetrained when he came to us, nor did he understand crating or some basic house manners. But in his foster home he is learning all those things. He currently lives with two other male dogs and plays non stop with one, and drives the more sedate one a bit crazy. He has two human brothers to play with as well, and he LOVES to cuddle with the humans. He thinks he is a lap dog. Rio's ideal home is someone very active. He does not use his off switch very often, and he will need a home that runs, bikes, and walks him often. A big backyard to run off his zoomies would be good too. He'd love another dog or two to play with, as long as they are his size or bigger. This boy has a super high prey drive and does not do well at all with smaller dogs. And definitely no little critters in the house! He would not be good with a senior dog as he'd bug him to play quite a bit. He is great with kids but his energy might mean young kids might get knocked down with his running around. He has mastered housetraining and crate training and is working on a polite way to let the humans know that he needs to go outside. His sweet nature comes naturally, though, so if you are looking for a highly social, highly active boy, Rio might be for you!
