Adopt RUTHIE a Collie / Australian Shepherd / Mixed dog in Pt.
This is the Animal Description HeaderThe Milo Foundation AnimalID is 28308 and the Current Location is in Foster Care. Please see our website www.milofoundation.org for the current status of this animal. Meet Ruthie! Ruthie likes all people. She is very social and loves to cuddle but she dislikes rough housing, fighting, or erratic behavior in people. Ruthie craves a quiet and calm household with no drama. Ruthie is housebroken, she knows some commands and is good at learning new commands. Ruthie loves to go hiking and to off leash parks. She goes to Pt Isabel (an open dog park) and she is off leash and does nice. She goes backpacking too and has her own pack she can carry. Ruthie dislikes cats. She lives with a cat and she is trained to leave the cat alone but this can be a frustrating situation for her so we recommend no cats in the household. Young kids are too much for Ruthie so there should be no kids under fourteen in the household. If you are planning to have kids in the future (or grandchildren) then Ruthie is NOT the dog for you. She gets along with other dogs but has her boundaries and needs other dogs to respect them. She?s currently fostered with two Chihuahuas and does good with them. Ruthie has gone on group dog walks many times, and lived with other dogs including a husky and other small dogs. She has extreme resource guarding issues for toys and high value treats. Therefore, her new family would need to understand how to manage this. Our ideal home for Ruthie would be a quiet and calm household. Somewhere where she has a large yard or property. No small kids and no plans to have kids or grandchildren. She?d be happiest where the person or people are active and like to hike or run. The foster thinks she would do best with no other dogs or other dogs that are not alpha but also thinks she could adapt to most other dogs just fine.
