- Happy, gentle, curious dog who can be shy at first and may need time to warm up to new people and things; a quieter lifestyle might suit him best - Once he is comfortable with you he loves chest rubs and will lean into you or tap you for pets - Loves balls, especially tennis balls! - Enjoyed a Dog's Day Out field trip recently and did great in the car and on leash walks - Very treat-motivated, and food is a great way to bond with him - Knows sit, shake, down, stay and bed - he's very smart! - Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for him, but he has done well with calm teenagers; may be happiest in a more mature home - Previous family said he did very well with cats - May take some time to warm up to new dogs and may prefer some dogs over others; would be most comfortable with a slow introduction to new dogs (dog intro required) - Previous family said he was not a fan of loud noises, including loud stereo systems in cars, and that fast movements can also make him nervous The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed.
