Adopt Skippy a White Poodle (Miniature) / Cairn Terrier / Mixed dog in Santa
Santa Ana, CA
Skippy is a beautiful and endearing dog. She will NOT be placed in a home with kids, grandchildren, kids who visit, or grandchildren who visit. Ideally, she will be placed in a home that does not have frequent new visitors or expect her to interact with strangers and are willing to confine her until their company has left. Once she's comfortable with her new family, she'll be fine, but this will require patience and discipline. The key word is PATIENCE in allowing her to get to know and trust you at her speed and the DISCIPLINE required to not smother her with affection until the 2 of you have become well acquainted. She requires ---an experienced handler--- as she has a high anxiety level and can be territorial. Move too quickly and she will nip. She is very happy to be at home with her people and enjoys long walks. She would love a large yard to get her energy out running and playing. She has a HIGH ENERGY LEVEL. She would do well with agility training or another high energy activity. She would be happiest as an only dog ---- in a home with at least 1 person who is retired or works from home, someone would have lots of time to devote to further training. If you fit this description, please do submit an adoption form. ____ No kids _____ No grandchildren _____ No visiting kids _____ No visiting grandchildren ______ No extensive affection until she gets to know you. ______ No frequent new visitors ______ An experienced handler ______ Preferably retired or works from home ______ A disciplined adopter who does not expect too much to soon, with the ability to refrain in wanting to make friends quickly, handle Skippy with caution until she becomes confident and secure. ______ Able to provide activities to channel her high energy in constructive ways.
