PLEASE complete our foster or adoption form to get started! Already have an app on file? Email XXXX@heartsforpawsrescue.com Looking for a loyal and energetic best friend? Sox is your guy. Sox’s dream person is a homebody who is home most of the day (the whole day if it was up to him!) and has a house with a yard. This is the environment in which Sox will thrive as he is still learning to be confident in this bustling and intimidating world! We hope Sox will find a special person or family who isn’t expecting a “perfect dog” or life of the party - someone called to help out this shy boy. Sox is still very much a puppy; he is very treat and toy motivated, and is a velcro pup once he gets to know you. Sox takes 2-3 days to warm up to new people, and during that time is typically shy/scared of being touched. A home setting is a must for Sox and a big yard would be a HUGE plus. Sox is energetic, and true to his breeds (cattle dog + malinois). He can get a bit jumpy/mouthy when he's excited, but has never been aggressive towards humans. He has let out a warning air snap at new people that moved too quickly towards him with their hands, but has not bitten. He would do best with teenagers or older due to his excitability. Sox would do best in a home without cats, or a home where he would be separated from the cats because he likes to chase! Sox does well with other dogs with slow intros and responsible care (parallel/group walks to start, separate safe space inside the home, and no toys or chews lying around during the settle in period). Sox was initially apprehensive towards the 2 female dogs in his current foster home, but was able to fully integrate with them by month 3. He is now best buds with the younger, submissive female and mostly ignores the senior female. Sox would do well with another submissive, playful dog with the proper introduction! He does react back to other dogs that bark at him on walks, but generally shows interest in other dogs but can continue focusing on his handler. Sox has car and separation anxiety. He has come a long way in the car, but he still tends to whine and do circles in the car. Securing him in the car so he won’t wander up to the front will be important for Sox. This sweet boy just loves his humans so he finds alone time rather challenging. When it comes to being left alone in his crate, Sox pants, barks, and whines. He will also chew whatever is inside the crate. Sox does his very best, but occasionally he will poop or vomit if he is really anxious (AC spooks him, not exercised before, etc.). His current crate has a wooden bottom that he has left alone! It is possible that he may be able to be left in a safe room, but he’s still a puppy at heart and has shown to be a chewer (cords, shoes, blinds) so it would need to be a well secured area. Sox builds a really strong connection with "his" human and wants to be with you at all times. May you be his special person? $250 adoption donation includes age-appropriate shots, microchip with free lifetime registry, deworming, flea preventative, and spay/neuter agreement addendum Sox is currently being fostered in Carlsbad, CA Ideal home will: Have the time to commit to all things puppy! Please note puppies do not do well left alone long hours. Long work schedule where the puppy would be left alone for 7+ hours can be difficult on most puppies and young dogs. Solid plans for puppy socialization, positive exposure and continued training + relationship building -- commitment not just to puppyhood but to a lifetime of love, care, companionship and vetting. HFP advocates for Positive Reinforcement only for young puppies and training that focuses less on "obedience" and more on confidence building, relationship building and consent training. Preference to homes w/ friendly & well-trained dog role models (preference, NOT required) Interested in adopting?1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call!3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time. Follow facebook.com/heartsforpawsrescue &Instagram @heartsforpawsrescue for more!
