For more information and the adoption form for Precious Pea, please visit our web sitebelowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=21480&name=Sweet PeaWonderful Pea is about 3yrs old and a very special girl. Wonderful Pea was born with a condition which causes her to have limited mental and physical capacities. She has hydrocephalus, which is 'water on the brain'. In Wonderful Pea's case, most of the brain tissue has been replaced with fluid. While there is nothing that can be done to reverse her condition, she is stable and has a great quality of life. She is on anti-seizure medication as a precaution, but has not had a seizures in a long time. She has the enthusiasm of a puppy but the walk and gait of an older dog. She is easy to walk on a leash and happy to go out and about. She is able to learn things, it just takes her a little more time than normal dogs. She gets along with other dogs and even cats, as she wants to be friends with all animals! She lived in a home with older kids for a short time and had not issues, but currently lives in a foster home with both small and large dogs and gets along with all of them. She has no problems going up and down stairs and navigates both inside and out without any issue. She also loves to play with toys and chases after balls. Cute Pea needs the right home with someone who will accept her for who she is. She would also do best in a home with other dogs with whom she can play and who will also provide her with a great role model. Her adopters will also have to be careful with medications that are used, as some things are known to trigger seizures and these should be avoided. While we have no idea what her prognosis is nor how long she will live, Precious Pea is a happy and healthy dog and is enjoying every moment given her. She is thriving in her foster home, but we would love to see her find a family who will love her forever, no matter how long that is. Could you be the family who will look past her limitations and see her gentle nature and loving soul? The min adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for pups is $400 - $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding charges, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are micro chipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., pups who will need to be altered by six mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
