Adopt VA/Holly a Brown/Chocolate - with White Brittany / Mixed dog in Reston
Holly is a beautiful liver/white girl who is looking for a special home. Holly has been bounced around in several different homes in her short 3+ years. Due to behavior issues, NBRAN sought the help she needed with a behavioral trainer in GA. She was diagnosed with ADHD and has made tremendous progress after getting on the right supplements and activities for her to be able to deal with her emotions and feelings. She will continue to need help in this area by having interactive toys that will keep her mind busy, such as a puzzle game with treats or a kong filled with peanut butter. She needs to be with a family who understands special needs and is willing to take the time to continue working with her.Holly needs to be with someone who can be home with her a lot of the time. ADHD requires frequent stimulation and activity, which is why she shouldn't be alone for long periods of time. She needs a good balance of interaction and calmness. She would benefit by being in a lively home, and would be great with kids. She can get overwhelmed though, so young kids would not be best. She must have at least 1 other dog in the household. Another dog provides extreme comfort for her. She prefers to spend a good amount of time outside, so a home with a physical fence is necessary. She has great recall, knows her name, as well as "Off", "Lay Down", "No" She knows "Chow" means food time. If there is a lot of chaos going on, she will shut down. She knows to go to her crate to lay down when she is feeling overwhelmed. She will sometimes do this during a thunderstorm. It helps her to calm down. However, she does not like the door to her crate to be closed. Her crate is her safe place, but the door needs to remain open. She is very affectionate and loves to get a lot of attention. She is attentive and playful. She does still pull on a leash. Holly is being fostered in northwestern GA. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, HW negative, housebroken and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting her, please visit www.nbran.org to complete and submit an adoption application. After completing the application, you may contact XXXX@thesouthernway.com with any questions or for more information. Holly's adoption fee is $375. It is preferred to keep Holly in the Southeastern part of the United States so that she does not have to be transferred too far. Transportation can be arranged with the adopter being responsible for at least the last 100 miles.
