Hi! I'm Wallaby! I'm from Kentucky! From his foster: Hi! I'm Wallaby! I'm from Kentucky! From his foster: Wally is a playful, social, lovey, rambunctious dog! He is looking for an experienced home who will give him the things he needs to become the best boy possible: training, exercise, structure and consistency. First, the good (there's so much good in this boy!):Good-naturedAffectionateSocial - he loves to greet strangers and accept belly rubs!Fast learnerFood motivatedLoves walks and playtimeVery polite and respectful with the 3 small senior resident dogsHe loves toys!Water doesn't phase him - he enjoyed a bath and romping in the rainNo counter surfing so far!House trained - no accidents!! What Wally's working on:It's easy for him to get excited when interacting with humans! When he's excited, he wants to jump, mouth (playful nibbles, not biting) and wrestle. We ignore him completely until he calms down - he's getting better at controlling his antics. :) He also gets excited when he sees other dogs on walks. He will pull and stare, though hasn't been barky. Rabbits and squirrels are also exciting. He is a sock thief! We keep toys close by to trade for a sock if needed (or offer him if he gets mouthy with us). Wally is doing great at crating himself when it's time to eat or leave - he knows that's where he gets all the best treats! After his meal or treat is gone he does bark for a bit but eventually settles. Overall, we consider him a Very Good Boy in training - he has made a lot of progress in a short amount of time! He is getting 2 walks a day (first thing in the morning/evening), structured play and training. He sleeps either in a crate or on the floor in the bedroom. He slobbers after big drinks and does shed. This boy is so, so sweet and will be a gem of a dog with some time, training and consistency! An adult only home or older/bigger children (with dog experience) would be the best fit since he could easily knock over smaller children when excited. Wally could do well as an only dog or with other dogs, cats are unknown. A fenced in yard would be ideal, as he loves to be outside and play fetch.
