American Pit Bull Terrier Dog for Adoption in Fairbanks, Alaska, 99701 USNickname: ODIN Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Odin (A135418) is a 9-year-old Pitbull mix who weighed 61.1 pounds on intake! 10/02/24 This gentle soul is Odin! Odin has had a rough go at recently and is looking for a home where he can feel safe and secure. He arrived at the shelter with many fresh wounds from the other dog in the home attacking him. The shelter vet examined him, and he was treated appropriately. He will need to come back to the shelter for suture removal on October 14th or 16th (please schedule with the front desk). He should also stay in a soft cone until his recheck so he does not scratch out his sutures. Odin may have reservations when it comes to meeting new dogs. He was said to generally do well as long as appropriate introductions were made â however, he may appreciate being the only dog in the home. Odin was also said to do well with cats. He was described as an outgoing, friendly, and affectionate dog who has previously done well with people of all ages, including babies and children. He has been an absolute sweetheart to the care staff since he arrived at the shelter. Odin was also said to be kennel-trained and housebroken. He does not generally mind well and should always be kept on a leash outdoors. Even though he is a senior he may benefit from attending a basic obedience class with a certified trainer to work on his manners and build back some confidence! Odin was known to get into trash at times and counter surf, especially when he is bored. He was said to like to chew on toys, so providing him with appropriate outlets is important! Odin was also said to have a delicate stomach and has been started on a limited-ingredient diet at the shelter. We encourage his next owner to follow up with their vet on the best ways to keep him healthy and comfortable! Odin is a sweet boy and he would love a second chance to find his perfect fit, if you are interested in meeting him, please let us know!
