Found as a feral stray in New Mexico, the white and tan 10-month-old, has, after two months with his patient fosters, learned that people can be trustworthy and kind. Although he initially hid from them whenever they came near him, he’s slowly grown more confident, loving and sweet, and has the potential to be truly happy! At 48 pounds and still growing, Sonny loves giving his fosters his paw both to shake and to show him more love, turning over for belly rubs and having his coat brushed. Gaily wagging his tail when he’s called, he interacts easily with his doggy foster friends of various sizes, likes chewing on bones and on toys (he is a puppy, after all), going for walks with “the pack” and by himself, walking well without pulling. Comfortable on car rides and mainly motivated by food, he knows “come,” “sit,” “lie down” and “no,” and loves getting treats for being a “good boy,” gently taking them from his foster mom’s hand. Never crated and almost fully house-trained, Sonny will only grow sweeter in a particularly patient home that will continue building up his trust, complete his training, including his commands, and keep him content, mentally and physically, fur-ever. He must be in a home with a fenced yard and another dog as both mentor and playmate. Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $425.
