JACKSON - 2 1/2 years old, 70 pounds, house trained, dog social, no kids or cats. Jackson was surrendered to VBACAC due to no fault of his own. He is very exuberant and loving. He gives hugs and kisses and even loves to sing to 'The Joker.' This boy is very intelligent. Jackson is also known for getting into mischief. Note the story about mailmen to follow. Although nervous with me at first, he allowed me to gently slip my lead over his head. Out in the yard, he was sniffing around as most of the new shelter residents do, acquainting themselves with all this 'new' going on around them. If you do decide to meet Jackson, please give him space and allow him to approach you. Let him proceed at his own pace. Jackson is used to roaming free in his home or being out on walks in the neighborhood. He is very playful and loves most toys including balls, bones, squeaky toys, plush toys, and tug toys. He prefers to sleep with his owner in the bed or on the sofa. Jackson does not like being groomed or going to the vet so he does need a muzzle in these instances. He might whine when he is left alone. He is very rough around children, jumping, body checking, mouthy so we are looking for an adult home only. Back to the mischief. Jackson doesn't like mailmen. He apparently has been maced 3 times by a mailman so the thought is he remembers. We don't know what actually happened during these incidents but suffice to say, let's be sure Jackson is not anywhere near a mailman. Jackson is a black mouth cur mix boy, a big boy at that, and these dogs, like all others, have certain breed characteristics which you should research and be sure these are a good fit for your own home and family life.
