Catahoula Leopard Dog DOG FOR ADOPTION RGADN-71118 - Houlie the Deaf Catahoula
Catahoula Leopard Dog Dog for Adoption in Sanford, Florida, 32771 USNickname: Houlie the Deaf Catahoula Girl Posted Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog (short coat). Adoption charge: 250.00. Houlie was rescued by a nice gentlemen who saw the dog wandering around, and then realized she was deaf. Unfortunately, his dogs were not very accepting of her. She gets along nice with the bigger dogs because she is so active and does not know her own size. Due to this, we recommend no little kids, small dogs or cats. She is a good dog who would certainly benefit from sign language training! This exquisite girl is waiting at our center so patiently, longing for someone to come fall in love with her feisty, fun-loving personality. Could you be the 1 to change Houlie's life? Dog for a Day update 3/2/2019 Houlie is such a cute girl. She’s very friendly and seeks attention. I had some friends over and she was nice, going around to each person letting them pet her. She especially loves playing tug of war. I brought her to a fenced in dog area where she had the whole space to herself to explore and ran around with me. I had some trouble getting her in the car, but I was able to by kindly coercing her. After all the exercise she took a little nap at home and we watched television together. She’s a lot like a big happy puppy- playful and silly. She gives light little nips when she gets riled up but she’s careful not to hurt anyone. Overall she was awesome and will be a nice companion to someone very lucky. UPDATE 06/12/2018: We have just updated Houlie's photos. Even though this adorable girl is deaf she loves the contact of people. She enjoyed her time with the daughter of 1 of our volunteers. Houlie loved her rubbing her face and ears through the cage and just being near her. Please help us to help Houlie get into at least a foster home and give her a chance to have love. Like we said Houlie is deaf but she is a love. Update: Houlie can be frustrated due to her deafness:( She is a loving dog who jumps on you, gives LOVE BITES, barks for attention, lies down to get her belly rubbed and back massages, and walks fairly well on the leash... we are going for walks more and more often...haha:) FEBRUARY UPDATE: Houlie adores people and will follow you around. She loves being petted, massaged and snuggled. She's not afraid to flop over on her back to tell you its time for a belly rub! She does well on the leash on walks and really relaxed after the exercise. She does tend to pull a little in the yard. She sleeps through the night in her crate with a sheet over it. She is doing better in the car, though she does like someone there for support and love. She loves other dogs, but she can be a bit overwhelming to them and she has trouble calming down, so she might be better off as an only dog with lots of play dates. She is an amazing, loving girl with tons of potential who would benefit from an experienced owner with time and attention to help her with training.
