Charlie B (for Brown) Charlie B came into our Rescue right at the end of March. He was emaciated and his beautiful Shih Tzu coat shaved off because of mats down to the skin. We were told he was returned because quote, “He won’t drink out of a water bowl and he is skinny”. Neither of these claims made sense to us. Charlie B’s foster mom began feeding him smaller amounts numerous times a day to where in just less than a month, he went from 7.9 pounds to his ideal weight of 11.5 pounds. We can no longer see his hip bones protruding or every definition of his rib cage. Bravo Charlie B!! He also received a clean bill of health from our vet, was caught up on vaccines, and later was neutered, and his 2 floppy rear dew claws removed. Charlie B is now ready to begin his next step of his journey to his happy-ever-after. Charlie B LOVES to play with plush toys and chew on Nylabones. He has started learning fetch but only brings the toy back near to you and seldom releases it. He enjoys patrolling the back yard looking for acorns to eat so a watchful eye is kept on him. Charlie has learned to walk fairly well on a leash and harness but can pull if overly excited. He follows the command “sit” to perfection. He does fantastic riding in a car. His Foster Mom has a car seat just for smaller dogs in which he either sits up in it looking out the window or curls up to take a quick nap. Charlie B would do great in a home as an only dog or one that has a friendly pup his size or just a little bigger. He has one dog at his Foster Mom’s he likes to do the play dance with and run around the yard. He is good with most other dogs with a slow introduction because he gets so excited. He has not been tested with cats. He should also go to a home without small children. Charlie B really is a sweetheart of a dog. He LOVES his Foster Mom. He really likes belly rubs and curling up next to her to watch TV. He also LOVES house slippers, ha! He thinks they are perfect to sling around and chew on. We know that with an understanding home, Charlie B will blossom into a fabulous pup that Shih Tzu’s are known to be.
