Sweet girl ISO fresh start and love! CLOVERLEAF NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Cloverleaf Best Guess for Breed: Lab mix Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of October 2024 Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 59 lbs Gets Along With:Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested. Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get her freedom ride after completing heartworm treatment! Special Adoption Considerations: Cloverleaf is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. She landed in the shelter through no fault of her own and is oh so eager to once again have her own humans for sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. She's pretty young, just about a year old, and is eager to see and experience the world! To explore all the toys! To go to dog school to learn to be the bestest girl! And to make new pup and people pals along the way! What she wants most of all, though, is to love and be loved, to know where she belongs, to know she's under her own roof every time the sun goes down. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!Shelter locationOur adoption events are held each weekend.
