Emmie Maltese Senior Female
Do you love the Golden Girls? Think Estelle Getty or Sophia. I am basically Sophia in a dog's body. I go by Emmie though. I am a senior lady who has had a hard life and because of that I am a little rough around the edges. I was found as a stray at a time in my life when I should have been sitting in the lap of luxury , living out the rest of my days as a pampered pooch. I am 14 years old and only 5 pounds. Living on the streets was scary and it is a testament to my spunk that I survived to look forward to that sweet final chapter I deserve. I know what I want, am strong-willed and determined. Some people may describe me as demanding but given what I have faced, I think I have earned the right to ask for what I want/need. I prefer to think of myself as an assertive woman.I do not like to be crated. I spent a lot of time running free and do not want to give up my freedom. I would much rather live out my days on a comfy couch or bed rather than in a cell. I get along fine with people, dogs and cats as long as they are willing to let me be. If you give me my space and stay out of my business, we can peacefully co-exist. I may be little but I am no one's toy! I can be a bit snappish (I will bite), if you do not take "No" for an answer. For that reason, I would do best in a quiet, adult home ( no kiddos please!).As with many seniors, I have some minor health issues. Due to a history of bladder stones, I require a prescription diet and medication. I am not house trained so I will need someone who is able to take me out frequently or willing to train me to use pee pads or a litter box. I love to go for walks so training me to do my business outside shouldn't be too tough. I lived outside so I have used the great outdoors as my potty before. I am an old dog but I can still learn some new tricks. Please help me spend my golden years knowing the love and care that I have missed out on. I know I can learn to trust and love again given the chance. If you are a senior lady with a strong personality, knows what she wants, and is too old to deal with nonsense, we could be kindred spirits. You could be my Maude. Take a chance on me!Emmie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, negative for Heartworm and Lyme diseases and microchipped. If you are interested in finding out more about Emmie, please fill out an application on our website by copying and pasting the following link into your browser:http://bit.ly/2JnZqK5Emmie is being fostered in Worcester and the adoption fee is $100."Like" Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/brokentailrescue/NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your petIf you have any questions or would like to adopt Emmie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
