Poppy Rottweiler Adult Female

Poppy is a beautiful 4-year old female Rottweiler/Labrador Retriever mix who was brought to HSOV during the overnight- or early morning hours on June 1, 2024 and placed in one of the outdoor kennels near the front door of our shelter along with another female Rottweiler/Labrador mix (Blossom). Neither of the girls were wearing a collar nor were they microchipped .. And there was no information left with them, so it is unknown whether they were strays who were found or if they were owner surrenders. Poppy has a black short smooth coat with brown/dark brindle highlights on her chest/legs, a long tail, and a lovely black/brindle face with dark brown eyes, a slender muzzle, and floppy ears. This little sweetheart was understandably frightened being in an unfamiliar place with people that she did not yet realize were her new best friends... But when HSOV Lead Canine Kennel Tech Jared Nash spent a bit of time with her for preliminary photos, she sensed that she could trust him. With Jared's gentle touch and soothing voice, Poppy made a tremendous effort to do whatever it took to please Jared. Poppy is the smaller of the pair and currently weighs 43 lbs. She also appears to be more timid than Blossom. We aren't sure if these girls are siblings (or perhaps mother/daughter) but there is a definite family resemblance. Poppy didn't appear to have much walking-on-a-leash experience, but she made a noble effort by taking small 'baby steps' with Jared by her side. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Poppy & Blossom will be held for three days so that their family will have an opportunity to reclaim them with proof of ownership.
