Ruby and her 7 puppies were rescued, in the truest sense of the word, from a water culvert where they were living. They were mostly doing ok until heaving rains quickly flooded their make-shift home. A passerby heard the puppies crying and fearlessly waded into the culvert to save 8 beautiful lives. Mama Ruby and her 7 babies are loving life in their foster home where they have been for the last several weeks. Ruby is kind and deferential to the other dogs in her foster home and oh so affectionate with her foster family. Not surprising given her harrowing experience, Ruby is slightly shy in new situations as she wisely takes a few seconds to assesses the situation. No aggression whatsoever - she's just being a good mom and assessing the situation. Ruby is a brilliantly beautiful girl with a soft, sensitive demeanor. With her cropped tail, Ruby may be Australian Shepherd and she also has the markings, size and temperament of a Beagle. Best guess on her age is 1-2 years and she weighs around 40 lbs.
