Missy (aka Melo in our home :) is the absolute sweetest dog you’ll ever meet. Once she warms up to you, she will be your best partner for life. She will happily supervise everything you’re doing at home just to make sure it’s done correctly. She deserves all the love in the world and more! She looks up at you with her sweet face and loves to wag her tail and smile (for real!) when she’s super happy. Despite all the crazy things she’s gone through in her short little life - from puppies of her own, nursing another litter, driving all the way from Mississippi to Virginia, escaping and returning after finding her safe space - she’s really the best friend you could ever have. Melo already knows sit and is learning other tricks quickly. She is fully house trained and great on a leash. Walking with another dog really helps boost her confidence when out and about! She would do amazing in a home with another dog or someone home to regularly hang out. She loves the company. She’s very chill around cats and doesn’t much notice them. She also barely ever barks, and only to get back at the resident pup Sunny! Melo is a sneaky, sneaky lady and will need to have solid supervision when left outside even in fenced in yards until you’ve both learned more about each other and she’s familiar with her new home. She’s able to fit through, under, and over fences that you probably thought were dog proof. :) **Note: Melo was diagnosed with Heartworm and started treatment at the end of September. Wolf Trap Animal Rescue will facilitate all treatments and testing of Melo through her being cleared of signs of heartworm. Adopters just need to be aware that her activity will need to be kept at a minimum until the end of her treatment (hopefully in January!)
