Say hello to Vinny! Isn’t he gorgeous! He is a 4 month old Catahoula mix. He is crate trained and doing well on potty training but does have a few accidents. He is very energetic, loves other dogs, very intelligent and loves to climb. He is all puppy and loves to chew. If he has appropriate things to chew. He is redirected easily if he’s not chewing on something appropriate. He loves squeaky toys!Vinny came to the rescue with his brother and mother. He had not had much socialization so his foster mom has been working very hard with him. They go to parks and to pet stores several times a week, (with cut up hot dogs, his favorite) and ask everyone to give him one and pet him. In the beginning he would pee anytime someone tried to touch him. He has come so far in just a few weeks! He is always shy in the beginning but by the end of the outing he is going up to people to see if they have a treat for him. He has come a long way in a short time but he will need an active family willing to continue to work with him on socialization. He is doing good walking on a leash but can be very stubborn if he wants to smell something and he will put on the breaks and not move. With more frequent walks and training he will be a super leash walker. Anyone interested in adopting Vinny should read about the breed. Catahoulas are the state dog of Louisiana, they have webbed feet and are great swimmers with proper training, they are a working breed with high energy and are known for their ability to climb. Because of the breed, his forever family will need to have a tall fence or commit to several walks a day and have access to somewhere that he can run off his energy. This breed can learn to climb fencing so supervision outside is recommended. Vinny will flourish and become a great addition to any active family that will take the time to train him.
